The Importance of Getting Out the House When You Work From Home

There are a lot of perks to working from home. Not only do you get to set your own hours, make time for a cheeky bit of Holly and Phil in the morning and wear baggy t-shirts, you also have nobody keeping an eye on you or dictating your work schedule. It can, however be quite isolating and at times I realise that I haven’t actually left the house in several days, aside from the odd trip to Tesco or the gym.

Most people end up denying themselves some kind of food, but in all honesty I don’t think I’m really improving anybodies life if I cut out one of my favourites; a Beth without chocolate, cheese, coffee and wine is not a happy one. Instead, this Lent I am focussing on taking up something new focussed around the idea of self-care because we definitely all need more of that in our lives.

Today, faced with my never-ending to-do list, a weekend of essays ahead and the release of exam timetables, I had a little freak out. It’s not a big deal; we all need one now and then and I think I was due a good stressing out session (earlier in the week I had yelled at my hair straighteners for not heating up fast enough, so that says it all really).
