My Skincare Routine

Having a ‘skin routine’ is one of those things that lets me trick myself into believing that I’m a real life adult with my shit together. The reality is, those teenage days of a quick scrub with a baby wipe and maybe a scoop of my mum’s Clinique moisturiser if I was feeling fancy are gone and waking up with eyes glued together by BarryM (good times, good times) mascara just don’t cut it anymore.

Following a skin routine is almost something of a ritual for me now, especially in the evenings when certain elements help me to wind down and get ready for bed.

I recently discovered a new brand called WiDEYE on a trip to Rye so you’ll see a lot of their products featured below because I fell a little bit in love. They’re as minimal as possible with no artificial colours or fragrances. I’m usually a bit fickle when it comes to beauty products; I’m always trying out new things and changing my stash up but I have found that sticking to the same routine has really helped to regulate my skin.

My morning routine is super simple because I never have time to faff about; I cleanse in the shower and pop a moisturiser under my make up.

I always begin the day with Burt’s Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream. I stumbled on this product by total accident and oh my goodness do I swear by it. You know that feeling when you use Mint & Tea Tree shower gel for the first time? That, but on your face. The formula is really smooth and creamy and oh-so zingy that it’s perfect for waking me up in the morning.

Before I put my make up on, I use WiDEYE’s Skin Fuel facial moisturiser. It’s a marine cream with hydrolysed collagen so it absorbs really easily which is exactly what I want in the morning! It also comes in a pump bottle which is an absolute dream because I’m forever getting cream stuck under my nails.

In the evening I treat my skin routine a bit like a night time ritual that helps me get in the right frame of mind for going to sleep, which is why I only use calming smells and gentle products.

Make Up Remover

My current favourite for taking the day off is the WiDEYE Marine Collagen face wash. Like the face cream, it’s got marine collagen in it which helps to maintain the elasticity of the skin and gives it a really fresh, soothing scent too. The wash has natural pumice stone in it which gives it a bit of texture and helps to break down dead skin cells; it’s gentle enough that I don’t feel bad using it daily, but has enough oomph to it that it cleans off the most stubborn of waterproof make up.

I cleanse using the WiDEYE Lavender, Chamomile & Sea Buckthorn cleanser. The formula is really gentle and the combination of lavender and chamomile not only soothes my skin, but also makes me feel really calm and ready for bed.

Honestly, I’m never completely sure what toning really does but using the WiDEYE Lavender Toner does leave my skin feeling really clean (and I relish the natural antibacterial in lavender which is great for keeping pesky spots at bay) and soothed. If anyone wants to shed any wisdom on why we use toners then feel free to pop it in the comments box below or drop me a DM on Instagram @bethsandland!

I was recently sent a pretty glass jar full of White Label Apothecary Moisturiser by Thomas Michaels and at first whiff it literally went straight on my bedside table and hasn’t moved since. We’ve been having a little love affair for a couple of weeks now and I think it’s safe to say that I am well and truly converted. It’s completely natural, organic and handmade and the formula is divine! Unlike some commercial moisturisers which can clog your pours, the hydration comes from natural ingredients like┬áJojoba Oil, Olive Oil, Kukui Nut, Rice Bran and Natural Vitamin E and my skin has honestly never felt better. It’s quite heavily scented with aromatherapy essential oils including Cinnamon, Patchouli and Mellissa which may not be for everybody, but lying in bed massaging it into my face and inhaling the scents right before I go to sleep is my favourite part of my night time routine. (It’s also incredibly good value and the jar is bloody massive!)

Once a week I also treat myself to a proper facial scrub – WiDEYE’s Orange, Lemon & Vitamin C being my current exfoliant of choice – and a mask, though I’m yet to find one that I’ve really fallen in love with so do let me know if you’ve got any recommendations!

I received the above products from WiDEYE and Thomas Michaels with compliments, however all views and imagery are my own and these are genuinely the items I now use on a daily basis.
