Thank you for all your kind words, positive vibes and love. Most of all, for hoping along side us. Pregnancy after loss is hard and at times it’s still a daily battle but it’s already teaching me some valuable skills. Perhaps the biggest of which is to recognise when Fear is talking, rather than fact or even probability. We do it to ourselves in so many situations - think the worst, allow unwelcome scenarios to play in our brains like movies, believe the Fear. It’s not a skill I’ve mastered yet but even just flagging down those thoughts seems to me to be something we can all benefit from, no matter what journey you’re undertaking. 🤞🏼🤍🌈

Dream evening in?! It was meant to be my hen do this weekend but inevitably we had to cancel. Instead, last week, I hosted a very little but very special indoor picnic and pamper sesh. Small business shout out to @theluxurypicniccompany who delivered the most delicious food, designed this gorgeous set up and arranged for @lunic.lc to give the dreamiest massages. 🥰🥂✨

Jane and Ally set up the business during lockdown so they’re well versed at all things pandemic. You can have their picnic boxes delivered in SW London (we had one a few weeks ago instead of a takeaway and it was 🤤👌🏼) or the full celebratory set up for your household for a special date night or birthday.

If embracing Autumn means cosy clothing and binge watching two seasons of The Fall on one Sunday, I’m here for it. We’re starting number three tonight (intrigued as to how they’re going to drag this out for 6 more hours!). AND - and - we just chose our wedding script because the Big Day is NEXT WEEK. I dropped my dress off to be altered and should probably start on writing my vows soon...any tips? Worlds most relaxed bride? 😅

Christmas gets all the credit for being the pretti

Christmas gets all the credit for being the prettiest season, but I reckon Autumn gives her a run for her money. If only it would stop raining! Like every week, I’m excited for Bake Off tonight. It’s become my little comfort - it’s so cosy and wholesome. AND - and - we’ve got a cake tasting board for dinner (hashtag adulting) to munch whilst we watch. We might not be doing all the usual wedding faff, but you can’t not have cake...

It’s been 3.5 half months and we finally have sofas! No more sitting on patio furniture and arguing over who’s feet are on who’s lap...😍 We’re ordering Turkish and soaking up our lovely space in celebration. After so much work, it finally feels like a proper little home. 🥰🍷✨

A spontaneous afternoon out of London for some vitamin sea, no signal and a crappy pub lunch. Bliss 🌊👌🏼

AD: Let’s talk vaginas! Or more specifically, vulvas. Hands up if you know the difference? 🙋🏼‍♀️ It’s okay if not, but it is time we got comfortable with chatting all things feminine health & hygiene.

Early this year I was really open about how I’d been to see a gynae after several uncomfortable months, appointments and prescriptions. It’s just not normalised here in the UK! In turned out that 8 (!) months after having a scuba-diving related infection, my shower gels and products were simply not allowing my vulva to heal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst your vagina (inside) is self-cleaning, your vulva (outside) is not. It’s got a different, much lower pH-balance to the rest of your body, so using normal soaps and body washes is like using shampoo on your face. Using plain water is absolutely fine, but if you want something that leaves you feeling fresher, Femfresh is the market leader in intimate feminine hygiene. All products are developed with dermatologists and gynaecologists to keep your vulva in tip top condition!

Date night 2020 style 🥰🥂 We’ve been trying to do more ‘special’ things at home (as opposed to sitting at opposite ends of the sofa scrolling aimlessly...amiright?!) Shoutout to @theluxurypicniccompany a super local small business who have made the genius pivot to indoor picnics! Loved it so much that I’m planning a special ‘should’ve been hen’ pamper addition with a couple of my girls before the wedding. SW Londoners, get on it! What alternative home date night ideas have you come up with? Loved @carlyrowena’s ‘life drawing’ with her husband this weekend 🙊👏🏼

AD: Sunday evening rituals never looked so good 🧖🏼‍♀️🌿 I spoke a lot about ‘hair training’ over lockdown and for the last month I’ve been using @avedauk’s new Botanical Repair range. It’s strengthening plant-derived formulas are designed to repair, prevent and protect your hair using bond technology. This is not just for blondes(!) but a must if you colour your hair, use heat or have been out and about in the sun this summer. My biggest reservation was whether ‘intensive’ would mean heavy, so I’ve been delighted to find that my hair is drying naturally, glossy and lightweight but without the usual frizz and fluffy bleached ends.

My top 3 ‘hair training’ take aways have been:

1. Double shampoo the roots and condition below the ears no more than twice a week
2. A leave in treatment is a *must*, especially on the ends
3. A bore bristle brush (or vegan alternative!) is great for moving the natural oils around the hair to prevent greasy roots

AD: Age 3 or 20-something, I’m still partial to riding my pink bike in my pyjamas 😝 Birthdays look a little different this year. Going shopping is trickier and we can’t necessarily see our loved ones to celebrate. @One4all.uk are challenging us to throw it back to our favourite birthdays past and relive the memories. Why take a photo? That’s a bit weird isn’t it? Attention seeking? Because that is all there is.

Photographs are memories and memories are not just reserved for joy. In an age where we photograph everything, we photograph this. It’s uncomfortable to see and read about baby loss, but it’s harder to live through.

This was me on the 30th December waiting for the anaesthesiologist before going down to surgery to remove the ‘remains’ of our baby that was, but wasn’t. I have some after too; even in post-general grog, I took a photo of the cup of NHS tea and the festive Percy Pigs my fiancé had brought me. It gave the nurses a good laugh; it wasn’t quite what they meant when they said I should eat something before being discharged. I don’t look at them often, but I like knowing they’re there.

That day I went to hospital pregnant and left...empty. Not a mother, not not a mother. A few photographs and an elephant soft toy are what we had to show for the hopes and dreams we held for our unborn child.

We take the photos for ourselves. We share, for the millions of women around the world who’s hearts hurt in silence. For the millions more who - thankfully - won’t ever have to experience the same grief. And especially, for the ones who sustain such stigma and silence with their criticism and judgement.

AD: Making the most of the Autumnal sunshine at Hampton Court Palace. 🏰😍 Whilst lots of our adventures may have been quashed this year, it's a reminder of just how much is sitting on our doorsteps. I loved touring the palace and exploring the gardens (tip: take a picnic!) and it's only a 20 minute drive from me.
